Letterpress

In 2006 I started letterpress printing. This photo was taken at an art show during the Eartharts art studio tour. We lived in Polk County, Wisconsin, and belonged to this group of amazing artist, socializing and selling art together. so I acquired a cast-iron print machine which I don’t remember the name, but I’ll figure that out and began printing coasters for sesame press in Brooklyn, New York located in Brooklyn, New York. I learned the very basics of press printing to do simple prints to do print coasters for them and And then started formulating my own ideas. I was doing cards and bookmarks, and I had a few commissions of business cards and Christmas cards you know baby announcements parties and I did that for only about a year. Selling art is never easy. then we moved back to Minneapolis and we couldn’t bring the bris with us. We were moving into an apartment. We had fallen on hard financial times And and so we found a buyer and packaged up this huge heavy press printer. I think it was something Plattin press and got it on the cart got it in the truck and it was on its way. Unfortunately it never made it to its new owner. It made it but when it got there, it fell off. The truck went unloading and so it got a crack in it and because it’s cast-iron, the crack could not be repaired so sad about the loss of my press and not only the loss of my press, but that it that it was the end of that it was such a beautiful, beautiful machine. I still have a few of my letterpress cards some of the cards that I made were Stationary with letters on it for initials and letters like IQNC are less popular so I still have a few of those less popular letters left. If you know anybody that could use any of these letters, let me know.
